The unease in dependence

I do not what this feeling is
And I never know how it is
But have you ever seen
A lonely flower in a blowing wind
It is a bit like that
A certain uneasiness
This feeling I hate
Even though I like you so much

I wonder when will this even end
Where we miss each other every day
Because things change
As do the surroundings
And so will we

We are independent
Like the evening sun setting
A red dot in maroon skies
Yet stuck in a rut
Of more of the same
People places and things
The same painted skies

And as this change comes about
What else will change
Will we stop showing concern for the other
I sure hope not
For that would break my heart
And yet do I have any say in it
For I am independent of you

I would leave these skies of ecstasy
And not have the strength I borrow from you
Accept the change and distance myself
Yet I still do like you
But I have to rid myself of this feeling
Get ahead
Knowing that no person is more precious to me
Than you
